School Lunchbox Drinks: Which Containers Can Earn 10 Cents?
Back to school means back to lunchboxes - and back to Bincoin! But did you know some of those tasty lunchbox drinks aren’t just delicious, they’re eligible for a 10-cent refund through Containers for Change?
Here’s a handy guide so you know which containers make the cut:
Yakult
No, Yakult is not eligible in Queensland. Sorry, probiotic fans!
Poppers and Up & Go's
Yes! These Liquid Paper Board containers (paperboard coated with plastic or foil to hold liquids) are perfect for kids’ lunchboxes AND qualify for a 10-cent refund. Win-win.
Juice Pouches
Yes! Most juice pouches are eligible. Just look for the 10-cent mark or scan the barcode in our app to be sure.
Yoghurt Pouches
No - these aren’t considered drink containers, so they can’t be returned for a refund.
Flavoured Milks
Yes! While plain milk is out, flavoured milk between 150ml and 1L can be returned for 10 cents.
Plastic Juice Pop Tops
Yes, if the container is between 150 mL and 1 L, it is generally eligible for a 10‑cent refund.
However, containers containing 1L or more of greater than 90% or more pure fruit/vegetable juices, or undiluted cordials are not eligible.
What’s excluded?
Some containers are generally not eligible:
- Plain milk (any size) and plant-based milk substitutes
- Containers 1L or more of flavoured milk, pure fruit or vegetable juice or cask water
- Concentrated or undiluted cordial or syrup containers
- Registered health tonics
