The Fitzroy River floods — the worst in Western Australian history — has caused mass devastation, with the clean-up efforts expected to be both complex and costly.
On Monday 9 January, the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund (LMDRF) was opened for public donations to support those affected.
The LMDRF is the recognised state emergency fund and provides relief for personal hardship and distress arising from natural disasters occurring within Western Australia. The Fund has been activated to raise and coordinate donations to financially support the communities affected by the Kimberley Floods.
To help these efforts, we have activated a Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund member number — so you can show your support to the people of the Kimberley, by donating your 10¢ container refund.
