BEFORE YOU START - GET A SCHEME ID
If you’re new to the scheme or just don’t have one yet, a scheme ID is a great way to receive your refund straight into your bank account.
1. Collect eligible containers
Not all containers are eligible. Here’s a way to remember which ones you can return:
Aluminium is a win. Glass and plastic are always in. Steel and paper are good to go. But milk and wine bottles are a no.

2. Return your containers
There are four different types of refund points available in Western Australia. The best one for you could depend on how many containers you’re returning and how you would like to receive your refund.
Bag drops
Bags of containers can be dropped off at various locations as a convenient and contact free way to recycle and receive refunds via your scheme ID.
Reverse vending machines (RVMs)
Self-serve by inserting uncrushed containers into an RVM so the machine can count your containers by scanning their barcodes.
Pop-up refund points
Organised by local operators, these appear at a set time and location for you to take your containers to them.

FIND A REFUND POINT NEAR YOU
Search for your local by postcode or suburb.

3. EARN A REFUND OR DONATE
All eligible containers are worth a 10 cent refund that you can either keep or donate to a charity or community group.
Electronic funds transfer (EFT)
If you’ve signed up for a scheme ID, your refund can be paid via EFT straight into your nominated bank account.
Donate your containers
Simply quote your chosen group's scheme ID at your local refund point to donate your containers.
